It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Thomas Heslin, Tom as he always preferred, a member of our Site Team has passed away during half term.

Tom was a well-loved member of our community, having worked with us for five years. Tom was a very hard working man and was guaranteed to get any job done that needed doing. He had been a pupil at St Bernadette’s school, which closed in 1985 and became part of Christ the King, so had a long connection with our community. He was a very proud Nottingham Forest fan and had many stories of the glory days, as well as his time working in the prison service.

School Chaplain Joe Hopkins said ‘Tom was such a big character in our community. He was known by everyone, and will be deeply missed by everyone too. He was always cracking a joke, telling a story or having a laugh with pupils and staff alike. He was very easy to speak to, he treated you the same if you were a little year 7 or the principal of the school, he’d give you the same time and respect. We have set up a book of remembrance for pupils and staff to sign in the Chapel. Messages from external members of the community should be emailed to me so they can be included.’ Joe’s email address is

Tom was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by the pupils and staff at Christ the King CVA. Our prayers are with his wife Annette and their family.

May he rest in peace.
