Spilled Ink

New Writer’s Competition.

The English Department were delighted with the eight students who entered this year’s creative writing competition at the end of the summer term. All the students received certificates for their entries and should be proud of their work. Of particular note were the entries of two year 11 girls, Clara Dunphy and Bethany Davies, who were invited along to the Finalists day held at the New Writers UK Eighth Book Fayre and Festival on Saturday, 22 September at County Hall, West Bridgford. They had both written poems and deservedly Clara won the Gold medal and Bethany the Bronze. Their poems have been published in Nottinghamshire Children Tell Tales Vol. 4. Congratulations to both of them!

This has helped inspire the students to start a creative writing club called Spilled Ink, which runs every Friday lunchtime in the LRC, where they explore their own creative writing ideas and write work for future competitions with Mr Fry. Two examples of the work created here are below:

Reflections – A poem by Bethany Mary Davies.
