CARE & Respect

At Christ the King, we believe that high expectations create high achievement. This page outlines the clear routines and behaviours that help every child thrive academically, socially and spiritually. Our approach reflects our mission:

Community  Achieve  Respect  Encounter

By working together, we create a calm, purposeful environment where every student can succeed.

CARE

Composed

Composed for Learning

Students are expected to be ready for every lesson:

  • Arrive on time and move quickly and quietly between lessons.
  • Bring the correct equipment, homework and wear full uniform.
  • Pay attention and follow instructions first time.
  • Sit upright and demonstrate positive body language.

Being composed ensures learning time is protected and disruption is minimised.

Aspiration

Aspiration

We expect students to aim high and take pride in their work by:

  • Showing an excellent attitude to learning.
  • Acting on feedback from staff.
  • Seeking ways to improve.
  • Staying positive about progress and achievement.

Aspiration reflects our commitment to helping every student achieve excellence.

Respect

Respect All in the Room

Respect underpins our Catholic ethos and sense of community.

Students show respect by:

  • Speaking and behaving courteously towards others.
  • Following instructions without argument.
  • Listening without interrupting.
  • Participating reverently in prayer.

Respect allows everyone to feel safe, valued and heard.

Engage

Engage in Learning

Active participation is essential for success. Students must:

  • Complete independent work on time and to the best of their ability.
  • Avoid distracting others.
  • Always try their best.

Engagement ensures every child makes the most of their education.

RESPECT

How we communicate matters. We expect students to respond in a way that reflects maturity, courtesy and self-discipline.

  • Smile, be warm and welcoming.

E – Eye Contact

  • Look at the person you are speaking to.

S – Sir/Miss

  • Use “Sir” or “Miss” when addressing adults.

P – Polite

  • Remember your manners; always say please and thank you.

E – Excuse Me

  • Say “excuse me” to gain an adult’s attention.

C – Coherent

  • Answer in full sentences.
  • Keep your hand away from your mouth when speaking.

T – Tone of Voice

  • Speak clearly, audibly and appropriately.

F – Focused

  • Avoid distractions and do not fiddle with equipment.

U – Upright

  • Sit or stand straight; face the front; no leaning or hands in pockets.

  • Use articulate, appropriate language — no swearing or slang.

These expectations help create a culture of dignity and mutual respect, supporting both academic excellence and personal growth.

Living Our Mission Every Day

By being composed, aspirational, respectful and engaged, our students contribute to a community where everyone can succeed.

Through high expectations and a shared commitment to our values of Community, Achieve, Respect and Encounter, we ensure that Christ remains at the heart of all we do.
