Drama

Curriculum Intent

Drama at CTK is designed to be broad, balanced, and ambitious, fostering creativity, confidence, and critical thinking in all students. Rooted in faith, it encourages moral reflection, empathy, and a deep understanding of human experience. Through an engaging and diverse range of texts, performances, and theatrical styles, students explore different cultures, perspectives, and voices, promoting inclusivity and social awareness while gaining a positive learning experience while working with others.

We provide students with challenging opportunities to develop performance and analytical skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for both academic success and future careers. Our curriculum reflects local and contemporary issues, allowing students to connect their learning to their own communities while engaging with global narratives.

Drama serves as a powerful tool for positive change, inspiring students to become articulate, compassionate, and socially responsible individuals who contribute meaningfully to society.

Career Links

Many of our students leave us after sixth form and go on to study Drama and Performing Arts at Degree level. There are a number of universities which have an excellent reputation in this area, and this will be discussed with you during the course. We also have a number of students leave our school and go to performing arts/theatre schools to develop their skills in order to pursue an acting career.

Studying this subject at Key Stage 4 and 5 will help to develop your confidence in performing in front of your peers and other people. This element of the course will help to develop your confidence of public speaking and assist with future life events such as job interviews and presentations within professional roles.
