Chaplains

Chaplains Welcome

Hi! We’re Lucy and Charles, the Lay Chaplains here at Christ the King.

The Chapel is open every day and anyone is welcome to pop in for some time of peace or a chat. We’re very lucky to have the Blessed Sacrament present in our Chapel which allows us to experience the love of God on earth.

We also run two lunchtime prayer groups, Monday lunchtime is a period of Adoration and Thursday lunchtime is Lectio Devina (scripture).

Please feel free to come and say hello in the Chapel and to get involved with the Chaplaincy team! You would be so welcome and we can’t wait to meet you!

Meet Lucy!

Hi everyone, my name is Lucy! I grew up in South London but have lived in Belgium, Leeds, Glasgow and now Nottingham!

I grew up in a Catholic family and my faith was really important to me. During my time at University, I started to question my faith but was really lucky to go to a Youth 2000 retreat where I re-encountered the love of God and made some wonderful Catholic friends who really supported me in finding answers.

Since then, I’ve been privileged to be involved with various Catholic Charities across the country and have been able to help out in running retreats for young people with organisations such as NET Ministries, Youth 2000 and the Faith Movement. This is my first year of being a Chaplain but it’s already been great! I feel very privileged to be able to share my experience of faith with other students and to support them on their journey-I have also already learnt a lot from the people I work with (both students and staff) and have been encouraged in my faith too.

I work for the Oscar Romero Hub in the Our Lady of Lourdes Trust which includes Christ the King Secondary School, Holy Cross Primary, Sacred Heart Primary, St Margaret Clitherow Primary and The Good Shepherd Primary. I’m in Christ the King every Monday and Wednesday and every other Friday. Whilst at Christ the King I run the Chaplaincy Team (which anyone is welcome to join) as well as helping with and leading Collective Worships, Form Time Liturgies and School Masses.

With prayers,

Lucy

Meet Charles!

Hi everyone, my name is Charles, and I am from the beautiful county of Rutland (near Leicester).

I was baptised at the age of 6, started Altar serving when I was 8 and haven’t looked back. My life has been focused on God in almost all I have done. During my time at University, I was part of the Catholic Society and started to make friends with other young Catholics (something that doesn’t exist in Rutland!) After University I worked at another Secondary school as the volunteer lay chaplain alongside two others, I then spent 4 years working at The Briars retreat centre as a programme leader.

I then spent a year at a secondary school in Loughborough as their lay chaplain, and now I am here! I am excited to get to know all of the staff, students and wider community of Christ the King school.

I work for the Oscar Romero Hub in the Our Lady of Lourdes Trust which includes Christ the King Secondary School, Holy Cross Primary, Sacred Heart Primary, St Margaret Clitherow Primary and The Good Shepherd Primary. I’m in Christ the King every Monday & Wednesday & Friday all day and Thursday morning.
