At Christ the King, we are driven by our CARE mission: to build a strong Community, support every child to Achieve their best, foster Respect for all, and provide opportunities for a spiritual Encounter in faith. The Pupil Premium funding is a vital part of this mission, enabling us to provide targeted support to pupils facing additional challenges. By strategically investing these resources, we aim to ensure every child, regardless of their background, has access to all that we offer.
The Catholic Church operates a ‘Preferential Option for the Poor,’ which means that the needs of those who are financially disadvantaged are met first. This fits perfectly with our attitude to students in receipt of the Pupil Premium and their needs, as we strive to keep them at the forefront of our minds in all situations and to ensure that their needs are constantly being met.
Pupil Premium is additional funding which is given to schools in order to raise the attainment of the most disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gap between them and their peers. Schools receive this funding for pupils who are or have been eligible for free school meals in the last six years, children looked after by the local authority, or children from families in the armed forces. The Pupil Premium is, in the opinion of the government, the best way to try to give students who require additional support, the best start possible in education and in life. At Christ the King, we strategically use this funding to address barriers to learning and strive to support students to achieve their full potential.
