Further Education Options

At CTK Sixth Form, we support every student in planning their next steps after Year 13. Whether students are considering university, apprenticeships, employment or further training, our Sixth Form team provides guidance, advice and preparation to help them make confident and informed decisions about their future.

Through our careers programme, enrichment opportunities and personalised support, students are encouraged to explore the wide range of opportunities available to them.

University Applications (UCAS)

Many of our students choose to progress to university after Sixth Form. Applications to UK universities are made through UCAS, the centralised admissions system used by higher education institutions.

Students are supported throughout the UCAS application process, including:

  • researching universities and courses

  • taking part in university visits and talks from guest speakers, including University of Oxford and Cambridge, University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent.

  • writing a strong personal statement

  • receiving guidance on predicted grades

  • preparing references

  • submitting applications before deadlines

For students going to university, financial support is available through Student Finance England.

Students can apply for:

  • Tuition Fee Loans – to cover the cost of university tuition fees

  • Maintenance Loans – to help with living costs such as accommodation, food and travel

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships provide an excellent alternative pathway for students who wish to earn while they learn. Apprentices combine practical work experience with training and qualifications.

Apprenticeships are available at different levels, including:

  • Advanced Apprenticeships (Level 3)

  • Higher Apprenticeships (Levels 4–5)

  • Degree Apprenticeships (Levels 6–7)

These programmes allow students to gain valuable industry experience while working towards a recognised qualification.

We work in partnership with DANCOP to help students explore a range of progression pathways, including apprenticeships. Through workshops, talks and guidance sessions, students learn about apprenticeship opportunities, the application process and the skills needed to succeed in the workplace. This support helps students make informed decisions about their future beyond Sixth Form.

Other Pathways

Not all students follow the same route after Sixth Form. We support students exploring a wide range of options including:

  • employment with training

  • gap years

  • further specialist study

  • vocational training programmes

Our goal is to ensure that every student leaves Christ the King CVA with a clear and ambitious plan for their future. Click here for a more in-depth look at other pathways.

Careers Guidance and Support

Students receive ongoing careers guidance throughout Sixth Form, including:

  • careers interviews and advice

  • university visits and open days

  • guest speakers and employer engagement

  • support with applications, CVs and interview preparation

By working closely with students and families, we ensure that every young person is equipped with the information, skills and confidence needed to take their next step successfully.
